Heart of Gold Neil Young - 1972 The song, which features backup vocals of James Taylor and Linda Ronstadt in final chorus, is one of a series of soft acoustic pieces which were written partly as a result of a back injury. Unable to stand for long periods of time, Young could not play his electric guitar and so returned to his acoustic guitar, which he could play sitting down. I want to live, I want to give I've been a miner for a heart of gold It's these expressions I never give That keep me searchin' for a heart of gold And I'm getting old Keep me searchin' for a heart of gold And I'm getting old I've been to Hollywood, I've been to Redwood I crossed the ocean for a heart of gold I've been in my mind, it's such a fine line That keeps me searchin' for a heart of gold And I'm getting old Keeps me searchin' for a heart of gold And I'm getting old Keep me searchin' for a heart of gold You keep me searchin' And I'm growing old Keep me searchin' for a heart of gold I've been a miner for a heart of gold |
